Main Event with Collin

We have a new reward system at our house and the kids can earn beads for excellent behavior, lose a bead for bad behavior and they are never allowed to "ask" for a bead...if they ask for one, they automatically don't get it. So, when Reese or Collin get 10 beads in their jar, they get special one on one time with either Jeff or me and they can choose to do something fun, such as go to the park, ride bikes, bowl, movies, etc. Collin finally earned his 10 beads after about 3 weeks, and he chose to go bowl with me. So, we went to Main Event. We had such a good time, we bowled, ate dinner and played games. I could tell Collin really enjoyed himself (so did I) and ate up all of the individual attention. What a fun night!

Helping weigh the food Kidzworld donated

Kidzworld held a food drive for pre-k and TK. The kids were asked to bring in canned and non-perishable items to donate to FFSC. Last Thursday, Ms. Nish was going to drop off all of the donated items, and offered to let anyone come along that would like to go. So, I thought this was a good opportunity to, once again, introduce "service" to Reese and Collin (we went last year too). We followed Ms. Nish there, and when we arrived, we helped her carry all of the items from the car to the door of FFSC. Then, the kids were allowed to help weigh the donated items--this is how they measure how much is donated. After weighing the food, the kids were then allowed to help place the items on the shelves. The kids especially loved this part! I loved that FFSC really allowed the kids to get involved and feel a part of this project. I hope my kids can learn to have a giving heart...not only of money or donations, but also of their time.

"Marvelous Me"- Reese

This last week was Reese's "Marvelous Me" week and we had lots of fun celebrating just how special she is! Tuesday, I went to class and discussed her favorite things and showed them examples on her pink and black flower poster. One of her favorite things....is arts and crafts. So, after her poster we did a turkey craft. The kids seemed to really enjoy it and the turkeys turned out so cute! On Wednesday, Nana and Apa' came to school and they brought their worm farm. Nana discussed what worms eat, how to handle them, what they do for our earth, etc. The kids got to put on plastic gloves and touch and hold them (some weren't so keen on this idea). After they learned all about the worms, Nana and Apa' presented all of the kids with a "Wormologist" certificate. Nana and Apa' also brought "Worm Dirt Pudding" for all of the kids to snack on. The pudding cups were so cute! On Thursday, Jeff went and ate lunch with Reese and Collin, so quite a special week!

Parent Observation at Dance

Reese started a new dance class 3 weeks ago (after the soccer season ended). She is now taking a dance combo class of tap, jazz and ballet. She is really enjoying it and is expressing so much excitement over her new class. This week was parent observation, so here are a few pictures to show off Reese's new skills!

Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving Feast

This last Tuesday, the kids class had their Thanksgiving celebration. I thought they had such a cute idea, to replicate the food from the program "Charlie Brown Thanksgiving"...it included all of the food from the show, such as popcorn, toast, jelly beans, pretzels and marshmallows. The kids loved it and the enjoyed their munchies as they watched the movie.

My Little Pianist

Reese started taking piano lessons in September, so she is very new to this activity. However, she is beginning to learn all the notes, recognize piano symbols and play simple songs. She is so proud of herself and I am enjoying watching her learn! Just thought I would share what she will be playing at her holiday performance.

End of Season for Glitter Girls

The Glitter Girls finished up the soccer season this last weekend. They played great and had an impressive first season. Reese loves soccer, she always looks forward to going, but she is not all that aggressive. I am hoping we can get a little fire under her before next season and that she can really get in their and fight for the ball. I am thrilled she has enjoyed it so much, for that is half the battle :) On Sunday, the team had their end of season party and each of the girls received a trophy...Reese LOVES it and is so excited to have her own trophy. We are looking forward to spring soccer!

Tee Ball -- Go Astros!!

Yesterday ended our tee ball season and Coach Rod had an end of the season party at Cici's. Each of the boys received a trophy for their hard work and dedication. Collin is so excited about his FIRST trophy. He found a special place on his shelf and can't stop looking at it. The Astro's also had their last games of the season this week and the boys played hard and did a great job.

HALLOWEEN!

We had a wonderful Halloween! The Armondo's had us over and Janis is such a fabulous hostess. She had "mummy" dogs, pizza, taco soup, witch's brew punch, candy corn martini's (yummy), tons of candy...decorations galore and she even had it set up so the kids could bob for apples. Reese and Collin had such a good time and this will be a Halloween to remember for a very long time. The kids trick-or-treated and got tons of candy, so they were thrilled about that. After a long evening of eating, playing, trick-or-treating, the kids all snuggled up in one chair and watched "Charlie Brown Halloween". They were all completely exhausted after a long, action-packed Halloween day!
