Glow In the Dark Party

Reese and Collin's school did not have a Halloween party, they instead had a "Glow in the Dark" party. The kids thought this was so neat and had the best time. The kids popped "glow in the dark" bubbles with black lights--you should have seen the kids with all of the "glowing" soapy residue on their faces and hands, they did a pumpkin craft, cookie snack (the kids iced and decorated them), they had "glow in the dark" balloons and hit them with paddles--all type of carnival stations. The highlight for both Reese and Collin were the "glow" cross necklaces--they LOVED them. Such fun times with the kiddos.

Pumpkin Patch 2009

A couple of weeks ago we went to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch. The kids had a wonderful time. They did the bounce houses, climbed on the hay, "drove" the tractors, played with the character cut-outs, rode the barrel train and picked out pumpkins! Although the kids had a fabulous time, this is not the prettiest pumpkin patch we have ever been too. We have ALWAYS taken the kids to the pumpkin patch in Celina, but with all the rain and bad weather we have had this October (and Reese getting the flu last weekend), we just never made it out there. I am a little disappointed, but there is always next year. I usually like to go 2 or 3 different ones, but the weather just didn't allow for it, so next year it will be!

2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits a dollar.....

all for Reesie stand up and HOLLER!!! Reese scored TWO goals at this last Saturday's game. Of course I didn't have my camera with me, but still wanted to throw a little shout out!!! I was so proud of her. She is really struggling with being aggressive and really getting in there and fighting for the ball. She tends to back away from it. I think once she gets a little taste of how much fun it is to take the ball and run, it will give her a little boost. I am hoping these scores will help build her confidence and help her to score more often!!!

State Fair of Texas

Last night we went to the fair and we happened to end up going on an absolutely perfect night! The weather was not hot and not cold and the sun actually came out (it has rained/drizzled or been cloudy for weeks). We had such a good time and it was so nice to go to the fair, for the first time as a family, WITHOUT the stroller. The kids had the best time and so did we. We were so glad Coco and Papa decided to join us at the last minute. Yall rode all kinds of rides, ate some junk, got your faces painted and went to the petting zoo. Doesn't seem like we could fill 5 hours doing that, but we did!
Each kiddo had a drama filled moment, can't go without any of those-HA! Collin and Reese were riding on the airplanes and about 10 seconds into the ride, Collin started to stand up. They stopped the entire ride, walked straight over to Collin, jerked him out and kicked him off the ride---can you say tears? The "carni" (guy working the ride) told Jeff, "the sign clearly says do not stand up", we were like, "he doesn't know how to read", but they were not having it and he was NOT going to be allowed to ride. I can understand and actually surprised/impressed that they take safety so seriously, but they do, so warn your kids--HA! After a good 2 minute cry, it was off to the next ride.
We had convinced Reese to ride one ride where you lay on your tummy kind of like you are Superman. Jeff was next to her, on the ride, and she said she had to go to the potty. They were taking forever to get the ride loaded and finally Reese started to cry. We got her off, before the ride ever started, and she had a 2 minute melt down herself. She had a slight potty accident (this is like the 2nd one EVER)...so not sure if it was truly a potty emergency or nerves...I think it might have been more nerves. Poor girl, thank goodness for lots more rides and games.
Each of the kids won a prize as well. Reese won her stuffed bear throwing darts. I was surprised she could do it, but so happy she did! Collin wanted to shoot the basketball...which made me nervous b/c I knew that since Reese had won, that the water works might start if he didn't win too. After 7 attempts (the 8th was his last chance), the guy in charge of the game, assisted Collin. He picked him, walked him over to the basket and let him drop it in...so a WIN for Collie too! He won a "Dallas Cowboys" basketball! Thank goodness they both left with a prize! Can I just say that I love the fair? It is so much fun, the kids love it and it is something I look forward to each year. Looking forward to next year already!

Muffins with Mom

Kidzworld hosted "Muffins with Mom" Thursday morning, so of course I went and had breakfast with Reese & Collin. They had made the sweetest cards and flower pens--such a cute idea! This will be my last "Muffins with Mom" which seems so sad to me. I have loved these days and always look forward to them. I had a wonderful morning with the kiddos and enjoyed getting to know a few of the kids and their mother's better.

"Marvelous Me" - Collin

Every other week, Collin & Reese's class has a student who is selected "Marvelous Me". This is to celebrate each of the kids and get to know more about each of them. So, Tuesday, we sent a scrapbook page to describe Collin. At the end of the day, I went and read "Pumpkin Soup" to the class and made Collin's favorite snack--cake balls! I tried to make them look like pumpkins, which they pretty much didn't, but got the point across :) On Wednesday, Jeff went and had lunch with Collin (& Reese) and that was a really big treat. Thursday, Nana and Apa' loaded up 2 of their calves and took them to Kidzworld for Collin to share with his class. Nana told a little about the cows/longhorns and then all of the kids got to pet each of the cows. This was such a fun experience...the kids LOVED it! Reese and Collin were so excited they could hardly contain themselves. After having fun and learning all about the cows, Nana and Apa' shared a cupcake cake with the class and brought lemonade. Not a bad way to end off Collin's "Marvelous Me" week. Now, what will we do for Reese? HA! Collin really enjoyed feeling "special" and had a fabulous week!
