Collin started a hitting league this last week and it is a new adventure for all of us. I thought to myself, what is this? Are we crazy? Collin's coach from fall tee ball, recommended it, so respecting his thoughts--we signed up! The league is out of "The Batter's Box", which are indoor batting cages. Basically, it is 3 man teams that play each other and all they do is bat. Depending on where the ball is placed, there are points awarded. I was nervous about this, not sure how intense it might be. Well, to my delight, it is basically like taking batting practice. It is very laid back and is more about the kids learning correct technique and timing.
The first "game" was Tuesday and Collin had no problem getting in there and giving it a great effort, that was until, he got hit with the ball. After that, he did not want to go back in. After some bribery of "chocolate" and help from friends, we got him to get back in there and go for it. He DID!! We were so glad. He had another "game" last night and Jeff said he did GREAT!!
Coach Rod (along with the teams approval) bumped our kids up to coach pitch. So, that is where we are headed this spring. I thought this would give Collin an opportunity to get some good batting practice in before the start of spring baseball.
